HIGH NOTES: Staying true to the feel-good pop formula that has brought him so much success so far and made him a favourite with tweens and their mums (and grandmums), the 19-year-old continues to make music that will appeal to the bulk of his fanbase. "Elevator" is quite a charming little ditty, while ballads "Falling Stars" and "My Kind of Perfect" hit all the right notes.
LOW NOTES: We're a little disappointed that David didn't take a few more risks. His self-titled debut effort was understandably made of cookie-cutter stuff, but we expected more of him here. We're not saying that he should turn into a hard-core rapper or adopt a country twang, but it would have been nice to see him stretch his vocals more, experiment with different genres a bit and take on tougher riffs. That said, he is only 19 so thankfully, there's still plenty of room for growth.
VERDICT: If you like "Something 'Bout Love," the first single from the album, chances are you're going to love the rest of the record. Plus, with Christmas coming round the corner, this would make a good gift for tweens who enjoy a good dose of pop. ☆☆☆
